What in the world is NIH! People are always throwing around these acronyms in an alphabet soup of letters, and I’ve got no clue what’s being referred to. In this case, I’ve heard NIH before, but just learned it is known as the “National Institutes of Health”.
Why am I just learning this? This past week I was with a group of LEMS patients and professionals in the rare disease community, discussing where to find good information about Lambert-Eaton out on the web. This information can be great for the newly diagnosed, but also the old hands too. I can’t comment on all that’s in the NIH database, but I did a search on “Lambert-Eaton” and a wealth of hits came back. There was lots of basic information, but also plenty of medical articles and research papers.
So, if you’re looking to deep dive into LEMS, a great resource will be the National Institutes of Health, or NIH. Go to nih.gov.
