Skin sympathetic response test recommended for LEMS patients
A recent article on Lambert-Eaton News recommends that LEMS patients have a non-invasive test called a Skin Sympathetic Response (SSR) to confirm if the autonomic nervous system is involved.
Most patients with LEMS report symptoms of dysautonomia.
When I was diagnosed with Dysautonomia in 2015 (before my LEMS diagnosis), a similar test was performed on me called the QSART, which confirmed I have small fiber neuropathy to my autonomic nerves. For me, this is where most of the day-to-day symptoms I have stemmed from.
I think this test is important to consider and advocate for getting because the results are pretty instant. You can tell right away if the ANS is involved unlike waiting several weeks for your lab results from antibody testing.
Have you had an SSR or QSART test performed?
