What Is Your New Normal?
Mysterious symptoms happen and then suddenly you learn you have Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS). Of course, you’ve never heard of it, and your future is suddenly unknown.
What is this? I know it’s affecting me in significant ways, but what’s the long-term going to look like? These thoughts spin through your head. With knowledge and understanding, learning about LEMS, hopefully, you will better understand the disorder and how it uniquely affects you and what you do.
For me, hip weakness and fatigue are my biggest issues. I often make decisions about what I will and won’t do, based on my new, albeit diminished capabilities. I’ve missed out on outings and adventures because of concerns over my abilities with LEMS. I won’t be out at the U.S. Open Golf Tournament, walking the course with Tiger Woods gallery as I have done before.
What has changed in your life and daily routine since your diagnosis? What is your ‘New Normal’?
