Since getting an “official” diagnosis of LEMS, what has been your biggest challenge?
For me it’s learning to adjust my daily life to the crazy ups and downs of muscle weakness LEMS deals out. Often it changes EVERY day for me! One day I’m out walking and the hips feel great. My walking pace is good. The next day my hips feel weak, and I’m struggling a bit, well off my pace from the previous day. I’ve learned to adapt. If I’m off, I just walk more casually, and perhaps change my route on the fly to shorten it. If I’m having an off day, perhaps I will choose to postpone that errand, or not even get out that day. It’s an ongoing learning process, which hopefully I’m getting better at. But there’s always more work to do!
    What’s your biggest challenge?
