I’ve had many patients asking me what precautions we should take with the Corona Virus seeming to spread throughout the world.  It is indeed concerning for anyone with a chronic condition, just as the flu is because raising our body temperature due to a fever can exacerbate symptoms.

One precautionary step I would recommend everyone to do would be to go to the National Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America’s Resource Page and be sure to download the Emergency Management flyer.  This flyer goes into great detail about what first responders and medical personnel need to be aware of when it comes to respiratory distress in patients with Myasthenia Gravis- which also pertains to patients with LEMS.

Are you taking any other precautionary measures?

Just a friendly reminder that handwashing is also the BEST way to prevent spread of both the corona virus and the flu! Also, wipe down surfaces with antibacterial cleansers, especially when traveling!
