On this International Nurses Day, I’d like to thank all of the nurses I have met along the way, especially since my LEMS diagnosis. The compassion and deep interest I have felt as they ask me questions about LEMS, so that they truly understand what my rare disease is all about, has been greatly appreciated. Their support of my writing and advocating for other rare disease patients shows how much they truly care.

Nurses are a very special breed of people. Our own forums co-moderator, Ashley Gregory, who herself is immunocompromised and in the high risk population in regards to COVID-19, couldn’t wait to get back to work when her hospital gave her an unexpected week off. She needed to be back there helping patients, despite the increased risks she now faces on the job. She’s a true hero!

Is there a special nurse you would like to thank?
