LEMS Triggered By a Rare Cancer – Flash Briefing
Those of us with LEMS, if we’ve done much research, know that studies say 50-60% of Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome cases are triggered by a cancer. In many of them, it’s SCLC, or small cell lung cancer. For myself and many others there are other emotional or physical trauma incidents that can trigger an inappropriate immune response. For this reason, when diagnosed, it’s protocol to look for cancer with PET and CT scans for about two years.
Not alL cancers resulting in LEMS are SCLC. Here’s a Flash Briefing on one such case.
