Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS) is an autoimmune disorder. Autoimmune science and medicine are still not well understood, and experimentation and clinical trials continue.
LEMS patients often have other autoimmune conditions as well. In my case, I have a celiac disorder, DH. Others I know have lupus. There are many others.
Researchers at Sanford Burnham Prebys and Eli Lilly and Co., are working on a drug that can reduce the harmful activity of the immune system to help treat autoimmune diseases, like lupus.
